How Stripe Connect Works

When a buyer pays you through your store, the money goes directly to your bank account — OwnYour is never in the middle. Stripe Connect is the technology that makes this possible.

OwnYour takes 0% of your sales
Every dollar a buyer pays goes directly to your connected Stripe account. OwnYour earns only from your monthly subscription — never from your sales. Standard Stripe processing fees (Stripe's fee, not OwnYour's) apply to each transaction.

What you need to connect

  1. Your legal name
    Stripe collects your legal name for tax reporting purposes. This is required by the IRS for any payment platform.
  2. Your bank account and routing number
    This is where your payouts are deposited. A personal bank account works. A business account works. Either one.
  3. Your SSN (last 4 or full)
    Stripe requires your Social Security Number for IRS compliance. It goes directly into Stripe's encrypted system — OwnYour never sees it, never stores it, and has no access to it.
    Your financial information is entered directly on Stripe's secure pages. OwnYour never handles or stores your bank details, SSN, or any private financial information.

How to connect Stripe

    Open the Payments tab
    In your dashboard, click Payments in the sidebar.

    Click Connect Stripe
    Click the Connect Stripe button. You will be redirected to Stripe's onboarding flow to create or connect your Stripe Express account.

    Complete Stripe onboarding
    Follow Stripe's steps to enter your details. The process takes about three minutes. When finished, you are returned to your OwnYour dashboard with your account marked as connected.

After connecting

  1. Payouts land in 2 business days
    After a successful sale, Stripe deposits the funds into your bank account within two business days. No payout schedule to manage, no waiting period beyond standard Stripe processing.
  2. View your Stripe dashboard
    From the Payments tab in your OwnYour dashboard, click View Stripe Dashboard to access your Stripe Express account — where you can see your balance, payout history, and transaction details.
  3. Free products work without Stripe
    Stripe Connect is only required for paid products and paid bookings. Free products and free services are fully functional without a connected Stripe account.
