Getting Started
Connect Stripe and get paid.
Stripe is how OwnYour handles payments. You connect your Stripe account once, and from that point on, every sale goes directly to you — no waiting, no middleman.
What is Stripe?
Stripe is a payment processor used by millions of businesses worldwide. It handles the secure transmission of card details, fraud detection, and the movement of money from your customer's bank to yours.
You don't need to know how Stripe works under the hood. You just need an account — and OwnYour does the rest.
How does OwnYour use Stripe?
OwnYour uses Stripe Connect, which means your customers pay you directly — not OwnYour first. The money goes straight into your Stripe account the moment a sale completes. OwnYour never holds your funds.
This is different from platforms that collect all payments and then transfer your earnings to you on a schedule. With Stripe Connect, your money is yours the moment it's paid.
What are the fees?
Stripe charges a processing fee on every transaction. OwnYour's platform fee is shown on the pricing page. There are no hidden charges beyond what's listed there.
How to connect your Stripe account
Open the Payments tab in your dashboard. You'll see a button to connect Stripe. Click it and you'll be taken to Stripe's site to either log in to an existing account or create a new one.
The whole process takes about five minutes if you already have a Stripe account. If you're creating one for the first time, Stripe may ask for identity verification, which can take a little longer.
Do I need Stripe to publish my store?
No. You can publish your store and share your link before connecting Stripe. Your store will be visible and customers can browse your products and services.
However, checkout will be disabled until Stripe is connected. Customers won't be able to complete a purchase. If you're not ready to take payments yet, that's fine — connect Stripe when you are.
When do I get paid?
Payout timing is controlled by Stripe, not OwnYour. By default, Stripe pays out to your bank account on a rolling schedule (typically daily op weekly after a short initial delay). You can adjust your payout schedule in your Stripe dashboard.
For digital products, the sale is complete the moment the customer pays. For services and bookings, the same applies — payment is captured at checkout.
